Gilles Groulx, Claude Jutra, Norman McLaren, Pierre Perrault, Michel Brault, Jean-Pierre Lefebvre and, later, Anne-Claire Poirier and Jean-Claude Labrecque, are a number of the pioneers of this cinematography. Among the various works of this era, Pour la suite du monde , by Pierre Perreault and Michel Brault, was undoubtedly essentially the most inﬂuential and progressive. The NFB and different government companies supplied most of the funding for these largely uncommercial works.

Cross small Rue Dalcourt, a secondary road between two main arteries patterned after London’s mews. It is lined with cramped housing, supposed prior to now for the poorest staff. In 1982, Rue Dalcourt was redesigned by the City of Montréal as a half of its Place au Soleil program. The ofﬁces of the TVA (1425 Rue Alexandre-de-Sève, corner Boulevard De Maisonneuve Est; Papineau metro) tv network occupy a complete block. Founded in 1961 by Alexandre de Sève under the name Télé-Métropole, this non-public television community out-rated Radio-Canada amongst working-class viewers for a couple of years.
Among the museum’s different services are the Olivieri bookshop, which specializes in monographs on Canadian artists and essays on artwork, and the La Rotonde restaurant, situated above the Place des Arts esplanade. On the decrease level, an amusing metallic sculpture by Pierre Granche entitled Comme si le temps… De la Rue (“As if time… from the street”) reveals Montréal’s network of streets crowded with helmeted birds in a sort of semicircular theatre.
